Dehradun: Most parts of the capital suffered yesterday, as there was no power for 8-12 hours in most colonies. The supply was cut early on Sunday morning and it was restored as late as post midnight in some areas across the Doon Valley.
Residents cringed, as there was no power on a holiday spoiling plans for many people in the city. As for the officials, most of them were out of reach as residents frantically called for supply to be restored.
While Rajpur Road was without power for about 8 hours, areas like Chakrata road, Haridwar road, Patelnagar amongst many more saw power cut for unto 13 hours.
The situation was worse in villages near Dehradun such as Harrawala, Raipur, Mohkampur as they were without any power supply for upto 15 hours.
One thing led to another as the Water works was unable to provide water yesterday evening due to the power cut. The overhead tanks did not get filled due to the power cuts and thus many colonies in the city could not be supplied fresh water.
The advent of monsoon has thrown the city out of gear in all probable fields. The roads are choked with water, trains are running late, residents have to suffer from without power and water in their houses. Its high time the administration pulled up its socks to provide the citizens with a hassle free monsoon.
